POSITION | Sustainability Director
Catherine Werner is the Sustainability Director for the City of St. Louis, MO, where she oversees implementation of the city’s triple bottom line Sustainability Program. Among others, Catherine spearheaded development of the city’s Climate Protection Initiative, including development of its Climate Action & Adaptation Plan outlining key climate mitigation strategies, and its Climate Vulnerability Assessment, which takes a close look at the impact of climate change on people. Catherine leads the city’s American Cities Climate Challenge award team. She is a strong advocate for local equity and climate justice actions, as well as nature-based solutions.
Over the years, Catherine has worn a variety of hats as a practitioner and educator in the fields of environmental law, natural resource protection and urban sustainability.
Catherine serves on the Steering Committee and Climate Action sub-committee.
